This remarkable collection brings together three historic pieces honoring two of the greatest figures in Brazilian football: Garrincha and Amarildo, key players during one of the most glorious eras in the history of Botafogo and the Brazil National Team.
The centerpiece is Revista do Esporte No. 153, published in 1962, the year Brazilian football reached the pinnacle of international recognition by winning its second FIFA World Cup in Chile. The magazine features Garrincha and Amarildo at the height of their partnership, one of the most dynamic attacking duos in Brazilian football.
After Pelé suffered an injury during the 1962 FIFA World Cup, Garrincha assumed the leadership of the Brazilian squad. With legendary performances against England and Chile, the "Joy of the People" inspired Brazil to another world title. Amarildo, selected to replace Pelé, rose to the occasion by scoring crucial goals and securing his place among football's World Cup champions. Together, their performances became one of the defining stories of the 1962 tournament.
The magazine bears an original Amarildo autograph, authenticated by PSA (Professional Sports Authenticator), one of the world's most respected authorities in sports memorabilia authentication, providing confidence and provenance for collectors.
Also included is Original Clipping No. 71 from the Swedish newspaper Hemmets, published in 1960, dedicated exclusively to Garrincha. The article illustrates the enormous international admiration he had already earned in Europe before Brazil's triumphant 1962 World Cup campaign, highlighting his reputation as one of the most gifted and entertaining footballers of his generation.
Completing this exceptional collection is an original photograph of Garrincha and Amarildo representing Botafogo, sourced from the O Globo Photographic Archive. The image captures an authentic moment from the legendary Botafogo side of the late 1950s and early 1960s, a team that featured icons such as Garrincha, Nilton Santos, Didi, Zagallo, Quarentinha and Amarildo, widely regarded as one of the greatest squads in Brazilian football history.
Far more than a vintage sports magazine, this collection combines an original period publication, a PSA-authenticated autograph, a rare European newspaper clipping, and an original archival photograph. It represents the legacy of two FIFA World Cup champions and one of the greatest eras in Brazilian football, making it an outstanding centerpiece for any serious football memorabilia collection.
